The Negative Is Singular. The Positives Are Plural. | by Jenny Slukynsky

We’ve all felt it: the sting of a single negative moment. One bad comment. One rejection. One mistake. It shrinks everything else down until it feels like that’s all there is. The negative is singular.

But here’s the truth: positives are plural. They come in abundance if we look for them. Wins, joys, kindnesses, progress - they stack, multiply, and compound.

Why Negativity Feels Bigger Than It Is

Our brains are wired to latch onto the bad. It’s a survival mechanism. But when we let one negative overshadow dozens of positives, we give it power it doesn’t deserve.

How to Make Positives Plural

  • Count them: Write down three good things at the end of each day.

  • Stack them: Celebrate small wins; don’t wait for the big one.

  • Share them: Gratitude spoken multiplies its impact.

A Daily Reframe

One negative moment doesn’t cancel out ten positives. Don’t let the singular win over the plural. Lean into the abundance. Multiply the good.
