Halfway Here: A June Check-In on the Goals That Still Matter | by Jennifer Slukynsky

We're halfway through the year. How are you doing, really?

Six months ago, we toasted a fresh start.

We scribbled goals in journals, made vision boards, whispered intentions under our breath.

"New Year, New Me," we said - whether seriously or with a smirk.

--

Now it's June. The world's in full bloom, and time has flown.

But the halfway point? It's not a deadline.

It's an invitation.

The Midyear Mirror

This is the moment to check in - not just on your goals, but on your why.

Ask yourself:

  • What mattered to me in January that still matters now?
  • What goals have shifted - and what did I learn from that?
  • Where have I shown up for myself, even in small ways?
There's no gold star for perfection.
Only quiet, steady progress - and the grace to begin again.

Reframe, Don't Rewrite

If your January goals feel far away, don't toss them. Reframe them.

Instead of "work out every day," try: "move my body in ways that make me feel alive."

Instead of "launch the thing," try: "take one step this month toward launching the thing."

Progress is allowed to be gentle.

Growth isn't linear.

Your dreams are still waiting - and they don't expire just because June showed up.

What If June is the Turning Point?

Every story has a middle.

This is yours.

The moment you remember what you want.

The chapter where you recommit, even if it's quiet.

The breath between the hutsle, where you choose hope again.

So yes - pause.

Reflect.

Celebrate what's already unfolding.

And ask:

How do I want to feel on December 31?

Then build toward that.

Call to Action

Take some time today to revisit your New Year's goals.

Circle the ones that still spark something.

Cross out the ones that no longer serve you.

Then choose one next step. Just one. That's enough.
