There is NO Bad Weather - Just Bad Clothes
Embracing the elements (and your attitude) one layer at a time
I love the saying, "There's no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothes." It's often said by outdoors people, Scandinavians, and parents wrangling kids into snowsuits. But the truth behind it? It's much bigger than staying dry and staying warm. It's a reminder that how we show up matters just as much as what we're walking into.
Because, let's be honest - life's forecast isn't always sunny.
Weather as a Metaphor for Everything
Yes, this applies to rainy runs, windy sidelines, or chilly Monday mornings. But it also speaks to the seasons of life and work that feel messy, uncomfortable, or inconvenient.
The cold front in your schedule.
The storm of a deadline.
The slow drizzle of burnout or uncertainty.
We can't control the conditions. But we can control how we dress for them - mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Gear Up with What You've Got
Sometimes, "bad weather" is just life showing up differently than expected. So, what do we do?
We put on the coat.
We lace up the boots.
We bring the right attitude and the backup plan.
We grab the metaphorical (or literal) pompoms.
Preparedness isn't about perfection - it's about permission to keep going, no matter what the sky looks like.
What "Dressing for the Weather" Looks Like in Real Life:
A planner and a playlist on the day you're overwhelmed.
A waterproof jacket and warm socks for the outdoor practice.
Saying no when your schedule is full.
Saying yes to a walk in the drizzle, just because you need the fresh air.
Reframing a gloomy moment with grit, gratitude, or a little humor.
The Enthusiast's Forecast
Here's what I've learned: enthusiasm isn't about pretending it's 75 and sunny all the time. It's about carrying the kind of energy that can withstand the weather - with presence, perspective, and maybe a little flair.
So layer up.
Bring the gloves and the good vibes.
There's no bad weather - only a chance to show up ready.
Because we were built for all kinds of days.

What's your "rainy day" mindset must-have? A jacket you love? A phrase you repeat? A small thing that helps you move forward when the weather's not ideal? Share it in the comments. We'd love to cheer you on!
